Syntax - Theory and Analysis. Volume 1

Not my favourite out of the recent avalanche of linguistics handbooks- some very good articles, I'll single out the chapter on Ergativity here, by Mary Rose Deal, others less so; too long (3 volumes), not structured enough, much too expensive, and there are a lot of alternatives out there now: Cambridge Handbook of Generative Syntax, all the Oxford Handbooks (on Minimalism, Comparative Syntax, Universal Grammar, etc. etc.
